Elemér Chák
Born in 1921, Elemér Chák's father farmed 144 acres of his own land. He graduated from the Ludovika Academy in 1943. On September 1, 1944, he left for the front and became a lieutenant commander of a supply column of the 10th Infantry Division. He did not take part in the fighting, during the siege he took command of the entire supply section of the 10th Infantry Division, and on 11 February 1945 he and his unit surrendered to the Soviet troops at 18 Bartók Béla u. He returned home from Soviet captivity in 1947. He then enlisted in the new army, but was discharged in 1950. For a long time afterwards he could only find work as a night watchman. 1He was one of the rare cases who was not stripped of his commission in 1958.
